I took part in the Arabic Calligraphy and Lettering workshop that was offered by the renowned Syrian Calligrapher Mouneer Al Shaarani at Art on 56th Gallery in Gemmayzeh, Beirut.
Inspired from his Kufic artistic art pieces, I aspired to draw a sentence and challenge myself to make it work as an art piece.
I decided to work on the sentence «أهلاً وسهلاً في بيت الزغبي» translated as “Welcome to the house of Al Zoghbi” in the Archaic Kufic style. I wanted the piece to be elongated to sit neatly beside the entrance door of my family’s place.
After several sketches and trials, the art piece was digitised and finalised.
Below Are some images from the workshop in Art at 56th Space:
I also had the opportunity to have Mounir sign his poster that i have from the “Right to Left” posters collection.
